Dutch artist Albert in 't Veld trained as a dancer before studying art and architecture, and this welded chair distills movement, balance and light into a crisp, open geometric frame that still bears the trace of the maker's hand. Heavy, solid and entirely sittable, it occupies that rarefied territory between art and design. Its maker's work appears in museums and public collections across Europe, and he's a knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau, which is the kind of pedigree few chairs can claim.
