Pair of Brass and Glass Wall Lights by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors, 1970s

A sculptural pair of wall lights designed by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors in the 1970s. The composition reflects Fagerlund's mastery of textured glass and atmospheric illumination, where material depth becomes the defining visual element.

Each sconce features a thick, vertically ribbed glass shade with a deeply textured, organic surface. The reverse of the glass is enriched with applied gold leaf, enhancing dimensionality and producing a warm, luminous glow when illuminated. Light diffuses softly through the textured surface, casting gentle reflections and subtle shadows across the wall.

The glass is secured to the backplate by characteristic star-shaped brass pins - both functional and decorative - emblematic of Fagerlund's refined attention to detail. The brass mounts retain a naturally aged patina, offering a subtle contrast to the radiant quality of the glass. One of the sconces preserves its original Orrefors label.
