Pair of Murano Crystal Sconces with Suspended Gold Leaf Particles by E. Barovier

A rare and refined pair of Murano wall sconces designed by Ercole Barovier and produced by Barovier & Toso in 1940s Italy.

Each sconce features a sculptural, fluted cup in hand-blown Murano crystal infused with suspended gold leaf. The gold particles are dispersed within the glass mass, creating a luminous constellation that comes alive when illuminated. The result is a warm, atmospheric glow with remarkable depth and richness.

The shade takes the form of an open corolla - a stylized floral cup with a softly scalloped rim and vertically ribbed body. The pronounced fluting elongates the silhouette and enhances the internal reflections of the crystal, while subtle striations from the blowing process highlight the authenticity of the material.

The glass rests on elegant patinated brass supports with restrained modernist lines. The warm patina of the brass harmonizes beautifully with the golden tones suspended within the crystal, creating a balanced dialogue between structure and ornament.
