Brass Finish:
Our waxed brass patina is 'living', and will continue to develop over time. This should not be considered a fault but a fundamental part of a graceful ageing process.
The waxed finish offers a limited barrier against further tarnishing. Excessive contact from hands, splashes from liquids, cleaning fluid etc, will cause enhanced local tarnishing.
Our specialised metal finishes are entirely hand-produced by our craftsmen, and as such there will always be a degree of tonal variation. This variation should not be considered a fault, but an intrinsic part of our offering, and what we believe makes our products unique and beautiful.
Polished Finish:
Our lacquered finishes fully seal the material on which they are applied. The lacquer creates a barrier between the materials surface and any moisture, grease, or any other substances, meaning that the finish will not change or age.
Lacquered surfaces are recommended for commercial environments or where less control can be had over how a surface is treated, whether by stray coffee cups and spillages or an array of harsh cleaning products.
We have developed our own Novocastrian blend of lacquer with a semi-gloss level of reflectivity; a finish we have found best replicates the appearance of the material prior to any finish having been applied.
