Transform your living space into a lovely tableau with a carefully-selected collection of books, adding a vibrant touch to the coffee table, mantle, or entry console when paired with a fresh vase of florals.

New York Living Rooms, the inaugural volume of Dominique Nabokov's celebrated trifecta of interior photography collections, has been re-released by Apartamento Publishing, more than twenty years after its original 1998 publication. Initially conceived as a photographic essay for The New Yorker in 1995, Dominique's images offer an authentic and private peek into the living spaces of some of the metropolis' most iconic creatives, such as Susan Sontag, Norman Mailer, Louise Bourgeois, Francesco Clemente, Allen Ginsberg, and Joan Didion.

Capturing her subjects as-is, Nabokov coins these shots her interior 'portraits'. Some areas are opulent and garish, while others are kept humble and simple - Nabokov simply documents them all, offering a peephole for others to delve into the narrative. No longer available, this refreshed edition brings New York City's nostalgia back to life, depicted in Nabokov's original Polaroid pics and accompanied by English poet James Fenton's preface. This, in turn, serves as a precursor to the Paris and Berlin editions, to be re-launched by Apartamento at a later date in 2021.
