It takes a team of three and a glassmaking tradition stretching back to the 13th century to produce a single Blixen Vase, and that investment of skill and time is entirely legible in the finished object. Base, sphere, and body are each blown separately in Murano before being joined seamlessly together by a master and two dedicated artisans, a process that gives every vase a presence and material integrity that mass production could not approach on its best day. Small in scale, it is nevertheless an object of considerable weight and consequence.

Care Instructions

• The Karen Blixen vase is not dishwasher friendly, it needs to be cleaned by hand. The vase is not suitable for hot water.
• Given that each Akua piece is handcrafted, delicate handling is essential for their preservation. To ensure the longevity and pristine condition of your Akua glassware, please adhere to the following care instructions.
(1) Hand-wash each piece of glassware individually with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent. Use a soft sponge and gentle cleanser to avoid scratches. To avoid detergent residues, rinse the glasses thoroughly with clear water.
(2) Dry glassware promptly after washing to prevent calcium deposits. Gently use large microfiber cloths to dry the glass, avoiding excessive pressure to prevent breakage. Use the cloth to gently clean fingerprints from the outside of the glass.
(3) Use soft and dry microfiber cloths to polish the glass. Avoid applying excessive pressure or twisting parts si-multaneously, as this may cause the stem to break. Gently run the cloth along the outside to remove fingerprints.
