With its broad seat, softly bowed back and arms that curve inward around the sitter, this post-war Nordic three-seat sofa creates an unmistakably welcoming center for a living room. The upholstery stretches generously across the frame, allowing several people to settle in comfortably while the gently buttoned back keeps the surface from becoming visually anonymous. Rather than relying on decorative detail, Gunnar Haimi’s 1940s design finds character in the way the arms rise, round over and gather the seating area into a more sheltered shape. That combination of generous cushioning and low, embracing curves gives the sofa a relaxed confidence that suits long conversations, reading and everyday family use with equal ease.
