Warm amber smoked glass gives this pair of Art Deco sconces, designed by Aureliano Toso for Toso Venezia in the 1940s, its generous rounded form and vertical optic ribs. The rim is finished in the demanding marisa technique, individually hand-pinched into a continuous ribbon of soft waves that leaves each shade subtly, unmistakably unique. Patinated brass wall supports offer quiet architectural contrast, keeping the richly toned Murano glass as the clear focal point. An increasingly rare survival of 1940s Venetian lighting, equally at home in Art Deco, mid-century, or contemporary settings.
