Qīng by Aimée Adriaansen

Deep teal settles into this dark atmospheric abstract artwork, where one low horizontal mass meets a lighter, mottled upper section and creates the impression of land disappearing into heavy weather. Much of the image remains unresolved, which gives the work its pull, with color and shadow carrying more meaning than literal detail. The narrow painted strip sits within a broad white surround, concentrating the eye on that dense blue-green center and making the artwork feel deliberate on the wall. The piece holds its tension in a single boundary between shadow and light, giving the image a restrained drama that feels simple and self-contained.
