Red Mountain by Aimée Adriaansen

Concentrated into a small vertical image, this ochre and green mountain artwork captures a steep ridge rising above a darker base and gives the scene the density of a place remembered in fragments. The upper sky occupies a generous portion of the painted area, allowing the irregular mountain edge to cut sharply across it and establish the main movement of the piece. Deep green at the bottom stabilizes the image, while the warmer ochre above draws attention upward through the narrow scene. The piece has the character of a memory, with terrain reduced to the few colors and contours that matter most after the details have faded.
