• Clean the stone with a dry or damp cloth, avoiding abrasives and cleaners with citric acid; use placemats and trivets so spills don't soak into the marble, wipe spills straight away with a damp cloth, and re-tighten the fasteners every six months. Keep the piece out of prolonged harsh sunlight, which can alter the color of the finish, and in a stable environment, as heat and moisture can cause movement, joint cracks and lacquer damage. Natural variation in the marble's veining, color and texture is a characteristic, not a fault.
